You can become an RN with an associates degree (ADN) which is a 2 year degree. To become an LPN it is approximately 18 months. Of course, you still need to pass the NCLEX RN or PN (licencing exam) in order to work.
Generally, you need an associate degree in nursing, a bachelor’s degree in nursing, or an advanced degree in nursing. An associate degree usually requires two years, a bachelor’s degree requires four years, and an advanced degree at least one year beyond a bachelor’s degree. The more training, the higher the pay and the greater level of responsibility that is possible.
