Spelling….jk! But really, you can spell practitioner but not have, me or what?
You must know proper Spelling and English before you can even a Nursing Assistant certification let alone get a Nursing Associates Degree…..Examples of courses are Bio Chem, Micro Biology, Psychology, government, History, Algebra, More Math, Trig, STATS, Calculus English, Writing, Speech, Psychics, Art, Physical Ed….just to name a few…..starting with 101 class level thru 4,5, & 600 level classes.
Each college has its own set of requirements for the 2 yr Nursing Degree…any 2 yr program has about 90 required credits with some elective credits. Then you need 2 more years after that for an RN degree which would be your 4 yr. Bachelor degree and then becoming an NP generally requires a Master’s Degree in Nursing this is another 4 yr program.
So you would have a total of 8 years in College before graduating with a Master’s Degree in Nursing to be a Nurse Practitioner. The pay however varies with the area ($65,000 per year and up) and if you sign on with the Government to an area that has a “need” for Nurse Practitioner for a minimum of 4 years most of your schooling cost is paid for.
Other ways of obtaining funding is military, grants, scholarships, loans, rich relatives, etc….
Whoops am I bad…8 years is a Doctorate….sorry!
After you have and AS/ASN and have chosen to be a NP you have to get a bachelors 2 years and then 2 more years for a masters in NURSING. This is a total of 6 years not 8 as a previous poster wrote.
