I am not sure about through nursing, unless you work in a doctor’s office that handles autism. Another avenue you might want to look at is getting a special education teaching credential.
I have an autistic daughter and I really don’t know what need she would have had for a nurse. Perhaps a nutritionist, or physiotherapist would have been beneficial.
I have my E.C.E. diploma and I have worked with children with autism before. I’m starting a job in a few weeks that works with children with special needs, autism included. As for the linkage… I think that you would need some kind of experience with children or a certificate that shows that you have worked with children before. Look into it at your school.
i have a friend that is going to school. when she’s not in class, she takes care of autistic children out of her home. kinda like babysitting. totally “hands on” for learning and knowing autistic people. she loves it and the children.
