Is there any way to combine the two ? I have a strong passion for helping others and a love for children with special needs. I plan to finish my degree in nursing (RN) and maybe go back to become a special education teacher. I feel as if both of these fields are my passions and don’t want to give up one for the other. Any suggestions are appreciated !

amazingly I too have a passion for the same two fields as well. I decided that working in special ed outweighed becoming a full time nurse (for now) however, I decided a master’s in education coupled with an LPN license was the way for me. This way I am able to comfortably assist my students with feeding tubes and etc. more effectively. Also, Special Education is a very intense field and if I should ever become worn down from it I can fall back on the LPN license. One last thing as for extra cash in the summer time, working pt as an LPN can be great summer cash. Good luck I believe that Special people have an interest in fields such as these!
