I’m a sophomore in high school and am really interested in the nursing field. I’m just looking for some job descriptions/salaries of the following different nursing fields;
Special Procedures nursing
Obstetric Nursing
Behavioral Health Nursing
Any links to some good websites would be greatly appreciated. But really any information would be great!
Thanks

What I can tell you is that nursing pay does not usually change in regards to what specialty you work in, it depends more on what kind of facility you work at, where you live, and how many years of experience you have as a nurse.
For example, if three nurses who have 1 year of work experience work in a hospital and one works in the ICU, one works in OB, and one works in Behavioral Health, they will all make the same wage. Someone might make more if they work the night shift only – shift differentials can sometimes be $4-8 more per hour.
Generally speaking, hospitals pay better than clinics, out-patient surgical centers, and nursing homes. Also generally speaking, pay is better in the “sunshine states” with larger retirement populations, and areas where the cost of living is higher, such as the East Coast of the US and California, Hawaii.
All in all, average hourly wage for a new graduate RN could be anywhere from $25-$35 per hour. Experienced nurses can make well over $40 per hour.

Good luck!
