It seems to me that mass nsg. education, would take a lot of the “personal” element out of it. With a larger number of students, obviously instructors will have to spend less time with each student.
Also, there is less time for the nsg. students to develop and embrace the “empathetic” nature of nsg in general. There would be more time spent of the functionality of the nsg career, and less time spend on the nurturing aspects of it.
I hope I made this understandable. A huge part of nsg, I think…lies in the compassion and empathy capabilities. With so many students, I’m sure the focus in almost entirely on procedure and less on the “humanistic” element.
Just my thoughts….I could be wrong.
it seems that every hospital/clinic i go in the US, Canada and UK, I can bet my penny I’ll meet a Filipino nurse/s. To me that’s amazing. Onthe otherhand, with the mass enrollment you guys are having there…. most of those who enrolled on it are actualy thinking more of working abroad as soon as they pass the board exam… which is to me not a very good reason to be a nurse. realistically, we all think of getting a big income hence the reason of wanting to get a degree… but what good is it to you when in just a few years you ended up burnt out or bored and can’t be arse with it??? It means starting from the very beginning again or continuing where you are and producing bad result for the clients.
Whenit comes to curriculums, I think the subjects they’re offering over there are overrated… what does pol sci, pe andt etc… etc got to do with nursing??? I graduated from FEU eons ago and i still can’t believe that I’ve had so much courses/subjects in a day. When I went to Ryerson University in toronto, they only gve you the courses that are relevant to your field of study. Mass enrollment or not, the heavy loads of subjects to be studied plus internment will defo affect your studies….not to mention trying to fit in with the croud……chaos!!! But that’s college life, as we speak!!!
