I wasted years doing nothing. I finally decided to pursue a higher education to become a registered nurse. But I’m in need of an income while pursuing that degree. I’m having no luck with jobs. I can’t take back the lack of work history, so what else can I do? I was hoping that being a student pursuing a degree would help somewhat.
I have volunteered @ a medical center for an year.

Having unexplained gaps in your employment history certainly can be held against you by employers. Surely you did something other than sat on your couch watching TV during that time-did you travel? Yes, you can’t take back the lack of work history, but if you can find a reasonable explanation for what you were doing during the gap(s) in your work history it may help a bit.
