My mom asked me to design a sort of get well card for her friend’s husband. His name is Doyle, he is 76 years old and just had surgery for bone cancer. The doctors aren’t to confident about him surviving much longer, because of his age and the severity of the cancer. I am at a loss of what to write for this card, I don’t want it to say get well soon, or anything like that. Doyle loves to joke around if that helps, but i don’t want any morbid humor. The picture I drew up is a man bending over and a nurse is behind him with a huge shot that she’s getting ready to give him. Thanks so much for you help.

Umm… Here’s my adivce. I once saw a birthday card that said something to the effect of “For his birthday Tommy decided to freeze his water balloons (the front of the card had kids laying unconcious on the ground surrounded by hard balloons)…” On the inside it said, “Hope your birthday’s a knock out!” So considering the fact that the picture you’ve drawn is humorous, I would advise the same corky humor for the inside message that can realate to the picture (like Tommy’s doomed birthday party).
Given the illustration, how about something like, “And you thought cancer was a pain in the butt?” and sign it, “Just wanted to put a smile on your face! Thinking of you always…”
