I seem to be either overqualified for non nursing positions, or underqualified for certain nursing jobs in health care settings. I have resumes and applications at every hospital in Tucson. Could it be that I took 18 months off to pursue education? I have (just like any nurse does) many transferable skill sets. What’s up with this? I need employment! Any suggestions? Thank you!

Come up the hill to Prescott. There seems to be quite a few nursing positions with home health care and Yavapai Regional Medical Center.Check out Craigslist for Prescott. Also there’s a great nursing dept. at Yavapai College that might have positions available. Prescott is a lot prettier place and not so hot in summer. Good Luck!
Look for jobs on the Arizona Workforce and AZ State Jobs, they always have nurses listed. You dont have to be unemployed to use these sites, but you may have to do prescreenings in an UI office to get clearance to get the appt to be interviewed.some will tell you to apply via the site, some via the companies website. Hun, the economy is in the garbage, everyone is having a hard time getting a job. Your skills might translate into other fields, other medical fields, teaching, school nurse, large company onsite nurse. Think outside hospitals for now and see if you can find something. Home healthcare is always hiring contact a few companies and when the jobs you want become available quit the services that do placement.
I would check out NavApache Regional Medical Center in ShowLow . Small hospital, nice friendly town. Some decent restrauants, decent housing and lots of trees, oh and a little bit of snow now and then
Have you thought of joining a registry? I work with a great one here in Phoenix, and what I like is when I want to work they find me work, if I don’t want to work I’m not being bothered with calls to work etc.
Also, I work full time at a Banner facility here now for several years, and I make over 10 more an hour at the registry, so it’s worth looking into!
