I would be starting from the ground and working up as I do not have any nursing education or previous experience, but am interested in becoming a nurse. I do have some (very little) college, 1 year, but made an excellent GPA.
Any information you can give to help get mw started in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!
I have loads of respect for nurses, they have a tough job, but still many people are attracted to this job. If nursing doesn’t float your boat you could try the resource below, I did, now I make extra cash from Google.
BEFORE YOU GO TAKE THE ACTUAL STEPS. ASK A NURSE HOW THERE JOB IS. WHAT TASKS THEY HAVE TO DO AND HOW DID THEY GET HERE. WHATDIFFICULTIES THEY ENDURED ANDBASICALLY INTERVIEW THEM.THEN SEE IF YOU ACTUALLYWOULD LIKE TO BECOME A NURSE.
THEN
FIRST FIND A SCHOOL YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THAT HAS A NURSING PROGRAM.
ENROLL IN IT AND FLY FROM THERE!
I would begin by attending a STNA ( State Tested Nurse Aide) class- offered at most community colleges or adult continuing education centers. Work as a STNA and see if you like the healthcare field. You may decide becoming a nurse isn’t right for you, or you may find another job that appeals more.
I find a lot of students who don’t know what a bedpan is when they begin nursing school. By the time they’ve finished they’ve put their own time, money, and effort into something they don’t like.
*Also depending on when you attended college last, an increasing number of colleges are putting a cap on the length of time credit hours are good for. Typically after 5 years the course must be repeated.
