Do I have to pay for everything up front and get my federal grant later in the semester or do I get my check before the semester starts? I got approved for the maximum amount and I am wondering if I should start saving now. I havent went to talk to my advisor yet thats why I am asking HELP!

you usually get it within 2 weeks of the start of a new semester
in wa everthing is payed up front and on your first day of class your teacher signs a piece of paper and you get the remander check the next day
they pay your school directly and whatever’s left over they write a check out to you for schoolbooks. if you applied in time. if not it comes out of your pocket and the school reimburses your credit balance once the govt pays your acct.
Don’t rely on student aid. One semester I got my check during finals week. No kidding. Speak to your financial aid office and they can write a letter saying your aid is coming – but that doesn’t mean you won’t be eating macaroni and cheese from the 99 cent store for the next few months. The financial aid office may give you an emergency loan, but that is also a joke, because they very often screw up so your aid is delayed, but they will charge you interest on the money they lend you. . .
